The Rod of God has always fascinated me.
I’ll not spoil the following story, but it was fun to feature a weapon of such ridiculous power.
The idea of a tungsten rod dropped from space tickles my dorky lil sci-fi brain, so I always knew I’d put it somewhere. I’m surprised we don’t see it in more media, really, because it renders a lot of sci-fi battles silly, because why would you send a ground force to a planet and lose a bunch of military material, if you can just drop a super dense rod and immediately win?
Who knows. Anyway, I review 2000AD each week, one story of which is Rogue Trooper, which may well have featured the Rod of God weapon at some point. I’m still catching up.
